Caney Fork Fishing School (SORRY CLASS IS FULL) March
8th, 2009
The class will begin indoors (just a few hundred feet from the river) on Saturday morning at 9:00. Over
hot coffee and pastries, we will cover a beginners over view of fly fishing and how it differs from traditional bait casting.
We’ll cover equipment basics and common terms. From there, we will begin casting instruction covering the roll cast and the
basic cast. Instruction will take place on the lawn as we pick up the basics. We'll move inside for lunch to prepare us
for the short walk down to the river (if generation schedule allows, otherwise on the lawn) to practice our new found techniques. Videos
will be made and reviewed with each student to point out areas of improvement. Students will be able to choose a class
rod from a variety of manufacturers including Winston, Sage, Temple Fork and Orvis to find just the right fit. The class
will wrap up with a session on knot tying and fly selection. The day will end 4:00.
